A Circle Expanding | Annabelle Gallon
Artist Statement
I use painting to mediate intimacy. Reflecting on my experiences and emotions. Recreating moments of contentment through paint. In my work, I explore and preserve fleeting moments of intimacy and connection. My struggle with a mood disorder combined with a long-distance relationship of three year has created an immediacy to preserve moments, highlighting the transient nature of relationships. The tension between presence and absence, longing for proximity, and the emotional turbulence of separation. A Circle Expanding is a project that captures fleeting moments of intimacy and contentment, Immortalising their impermanence.
I consider my life to be an expanding circle. It feels elastic, it gets big and wide and before it breaks it snaps back to being small. I begin again. And soon, a moment, for a moment will be saved.
